TAMISEMI Form One Selection 2026: Full List, School Allocations, and Reporting Dates Announced
The President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government Tanzania (PO-RALG) announced that all eligible candidates who completed Primary School leaving examinations in 2025 have been selected to join Form One in 2026. The government confirmed that 937,581 students, representing 100% of qualified candidates, have been placed in various public secondary schools across the country.
According to the official statement delivered on December 4, 2025, by the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (TAMISEMI), Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, the selection process followed national education guidelines and ensured every successful candidate secured a placement for the upcoming academic year.

Prof. Shemdoe reported that the 2026 allocation exercise considered the approved criteria for student placement, noting that every candidate who scored between 121 and 300 marks in the 2025 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) received a school assignment.
He emphasized:
“Kila mtahiniwa aliyefanya mtihani wa kumaliza elimu ya msingi mwaka 2025 na kupata jumla ya alama kati ya 121 hadi 300 amechaguliwa na kupangiwa shule ya Serikali.”

Total selected: 937,581 students
- Girls: 508,477
- Boys: 429,104
Students with special needs: 3,228
- Girls: 1,544
- Boys: 1,684
Total government secondary schools involved: 5,230
These selection results ensure nationwide access to secondary education, aligning with the government’s policy of universal basic education.
Categories of Schools in TAMISEMI Form One Selection 2026
Public secondary schools under TAMISEMI are grouped into boarding schools and day schools. Boarding schools are further divided into three categories:
- High-performing boarding schools
- Amali (vocational-stream) boarding schools
- National boarding schools
1. High-Performing Boarding Schools
These schools admit students with the highest national achievement scores. For 2026, 815 students were selected to join this category:
- Girls: 335
- Boys: 480
They were placed in the following schools:
Ilboru, Msalato, Kibaha, Kilakala, Mzumbe, Tabora Boys, and Tabora Girls.
2. Amali Boarding Schools
A total of 3,411 students were selected to join vocational-stream boarding schools:
- Girls: 1,279
- Boys: 2,162
These schools offer practical and skills-focused learning pathways.
3. National Boarding Schools
Additionally, 7,360 students secured places in national boarding schools:
- Girls: 5,014
- Boys: 2,346
These placements were distributed across local authorities using a standardized national allocation formula.
Day School Allocations
Most Form One candidates 925,065 students—were assigned to government day secondary schools.
- Girls: 501,849
- Boys: 424,116
These schools admit students living near their former primary schools and form the largest segment of the national education system.
Reporting Dates for Form One 2026
The Minister clarified the reporting schedule as follows:
- Boarding schools: Students must report on January 12, 2026.
- Day schools: Students report on January 13, 2026.
The official academic year for Form One begins January 13, 2026, as outlined in the national school calendar.
Prof. Shemdoe stated that the government had prepared in advance to ensure all students transition smoothly into secondary education, noting: “Serikali ilifanya maandalizi mapema ili kuhakikisha wanafunzi wote waliofaulu wanajiunga na elimu ya sekondari ifikapo Januari 2026.”
